A Message from Safe & Sound Regarding COVID-19

Certainly you are aware by now that there is widespread concern in our community about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and we want you to know that we are closely monitoring the situation and your health is our top priority.

We are now open to in-person visits and are offering virtual as well.

Research shows that video appointments (Teletherapy) can be just as effective as in-person appointments and we use a HIPAA compliant Secure Portal to provide you with this service.

Please contact our office manager, Tracey, at 267-225-7402 or tracey@safesoundcounselingllc.com with questions or for more information about using Teletherapy sessions.

Thank you for choosing Safe and Sound Counseling to support you and your family through these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Daniel Derrer LMFT

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Many times, we find ourselves confused and disorientated in life. Individual therapy and counseling helps to uncover patterns that have been sabotaging our best efforts, resolving past traumas, and learn how to express our selves in ways that are authentic and true to our best selves.

Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy and counseling creates a safe space to explore these deep unexpressed emotions in relationships. Giving room to try new ways of engaging with each other. Lowering the shields and dropping our verbal weapons then seeing each other clearly.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy

We assess the problem strategies and interrupt the equilibriums. Then introduce new strategies bringing emotional relief and bonding through family therapy and counseling. Creating a new equilibrium based on congruence of feelings, thoughts, wants and needs of each individual family member.

Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.

As an emotion and strategic focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true deep emotions with individual, couples, and family therapy, then express those in ways that create a life that is worth celebrating. While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.

By applying emotion and strategic focused individual, couples, and family therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns, negative perceptions, and hurt emotions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Let’s schedule your free 15 minute video session with one of our therapists button to see if we are a good fit.

The feeling of a dark cloud that won’t leave. Persistent feelings of sadness, exhaustion, and being down. These are the symptoms of the difficult to define state of depression. Counselors at Safe & Sound help to give meaning, clarity, and hope to lift the fog of depression.

Grief Counseling

It’s been months. Shouldn’t you be over this by now? Come on! Just pull yourself out of this. Look at everything else you have.

Grief affects all of us. There is no formula to grief. There are no right or wrong ways to move through the experience of sorrow and pain created by loss.

Through the exploration of your story, we can meet with grief, together. We will discover ways to honor and acknowledge our loss – the loss of self, a life goal, or loved one. We’ll work together to cultivate continued hope and healing.

Addiction & Recovery

Addiction is a progressive, chronic and if untreated, fatal disease of the brain. It is a painful process for both the addict and also the family members and as the disease progresses, so do the addictive behaviors, isolation, and need for support for both. There are multiple resources for recovery including the Twelve Step philosophy and the connection with others with similar difficulties is essential. Personally with over twenty years of my own recovery, and losing my brother to opiate addiction, I understand both the pain of this disease as well as the freedom recovery can bring.

Cognitive Therapy

“Stinking Thinking” is the cause of much pain in our lives and the lives of those around us. Not knowing when to say “No” or “Yes”. Unsure of how to make choices or which is the “right choice”. We end up being prone to extremes and negative self-view. Cognitive Therapy gives us a strategy to reflect that increases positive outlook on life, ourselves, and situations which relieves pain.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotions are the most powerful drive in people’s lives. Because of how we feel we eat too much or not at all. Because of how we feel we will sleep too much or not at all. Because of how we feel we can live an unbalanced life or can choose to not live at all. The work of EFT is to help individuals, couples, and families to understand deep emotions which allows us to share these deep emotions with others for healing.

Conflict Resolution

Healthy communication is essential when resolving conflict with others. Often times when we stop to think before reacting, we will have a better outcome, be more present and able to listen, and identify our true feelings and what is being triggered in our responses. Taking the perspective of another can be helpful when dealing with conflict as well as expressing our own emotions and disappointments. Sometimes having a guide or mediator can help us stop and think and consider our own balance and needs so that we are better able to respond appropriately to others.

Therapy for Anxiety

Everyone feels “anxiety”. Anxiety itself is not the problem. Anxiety is our bodies way of alerting us to the fact that there is a problem that we are ignoring. During the process of therapy, we learn to accurately listen to our bodies, make meaning out of our anxieties, then allow it to help us make better choices to relieve pressure.

Stress Management

Life is filled with stressors, deadlines, expectations from others and sometimes chaos. Stress management techniques are helpful in dealing with anxiety and outside demands. Breathing techniques, spiritual connection, meditation, and cognitive approaches can help to ground one during upheaval and refocus on oneself while providing self-care and being mindful of the present and the gifts in daily life.

Christian Counseling

Each of us, as people, have many pieces that make us whole – physical pieces, emotional pieces, intellectual pieces, & spiritual pieces. To become our complete and whole self, each one of these pieces must be acknowledged.

As a Christian counselor, I am comfortable with working with you as a spiritual being – whatever faith or denomination.

We can integrate faith practice into your continued growth and wholeness. We can honor heritage via exploration and conversation while gleaning insight into how faith has shaped you and how it can continue to be a catalyst to healing.
